Should We Burn the Boats? A Story of Advocacy and Change
Presented by Dan Davis and Carol Kissam
3:30 pm to 5:00 pm
Town Offices Community Room, 18 Elm Street
Potsdam, NY
The St. Lawrence County Chapter AARP #2831 cordially invites the public to a FREE workshop on Wednesday, February 22 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The event will be held at Town Office Community Room, 18 Elm St., Potsdam, and presented by Carol Kissam and Dan Davis.
The workshop has a dual purpose. It will explore understanding advocacy and change and a broadening of personal perspective through interactive role plays and hands-on activities that promote diversity, decision making, management, negotiation, and communication -- tools that are needed for effective advocacy of self and groups.
The story behind Should We Burn the Boats is relevant to advocacy, change and motivation. Each of us experiences change frequently throughout life, but how we break through the fear barrier of change to advocate for self or others is especially important. If you are part of an organization challenged by the need for motivation to change, the change is occurring in your family, or it’s your own personal challenge, this workshop is expected to help us feel more confident and accepting of both advocacy and change.
This is the second of several workshops planned for 2017. For more information, visit us at aarpchapter2831.org or Facebook.com/aarp2831 or contact us at [email protected] or 265-6964.
