As the Morristown Salutatorian, Adriania Fanelli worked rigorously over the last four years to maintain her grades and work ethic through a series of commitments to her community and herself. She has been part of more than seventeen extracurricular activities and has volunteered 100 hours of community service since the tenth grade. She also completed four college classes in two years . This year, while going to school full time, she began working part time at the United Helpers Riverledge in order to save for tuition and supplies. While working she obtained a NYS Feeding certificate and took online classes regarding health care and resident care. She will have finished 100 hours of medical interning at various medical sites for her Allied Health class where she studied pre-medical material. The $500 scholarship from AARP will help cover essential costs as an accepted student at North Country Community College. Adriania plans to become a registered nurse and to stay in the North Country where she will offer her wide range of interests and abilities as a health professional.

The St. Lawrence County Chapter (SLCC) #2831 is a community of advocacy and volunteers whose purpose is to 1) promote at the local level the priorities, programs and policies specific for the benefit of our seniors, 2) maximize member engagement in a broad menu of services, information and educational activities, 3) demonstrate the contributions and potential of people who are 50+ to encourage their full participation in contemporary life, 4) create fundraising opportunities to achieve self-sufficiency, and 5) stimulate public interest in a variety of issues.
