August 12, 2019 – 10 am to 3 pm: State-Wide Senior Action Council Seniorama Day in the Bingo Palace at Akwesasne Casino. Kay D, Vicki C, Ellen N to work the table. Arrive at 8:30 to set up. If you have a Casino winners circle card your lunch at the Native Harvest Buffet is said to be half price. You can buy lunch at Sticks (diner/bar food) or take your own.
August 20, 2019 – 11:45 am to 1:30 pm, Lobster House, Luncheon: Senior Citizens Day recognizing two 90-year-old AARP Chapter members (Gini Ward and Almeda LaRock) and SOAR, our first business honoree. SOAR is a Lifelong Learning Group in the North Country. The 400+ members of SOAR are “Third Age” adults, post-family and career people who are actively enjoying their lives. SOAR members are inquisitive, energetic and creative. They enjoy intellectual stimulation, hands-on activities, going places, and good fellowship. SOAR members love learning just for the sake of learning, and they love sharing what they know. RSVP required: Karen at 315-265-6705 on or before August 15th.

The St. Lawrence County Chapter (SLCC) #2831 is a community of advocacy and volunteers whose purpose is to 1) promote at the local level the priorities, programs and policies specific for the benefit of our seniors, 2) maximize member engagement in a broad menu of services, information and educational activities, 3) demonstrate the contributions and potential of people who are 50+ to encourage their full participation in contemporary life, 4) create fundraising opportunities to achieve self-sufficiency, and 5) stimulate public interest in a variety of issues.
