Potsdam, NY – Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s Dr. Mariam Asar will speak on “Seniors and Suicide”, a special Ask the Physician event, on September 8, 2017, 5:30-7:00 pm, in Conference Rooms A&B, 50 Leroy Street. This event is held collaboratively with the local AARP chapter, and in recognition of September as National Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month.
Psychiatrist Dr. Asar will address why this population is often at risk and overlooked when discussing suicide. According to Dr. Asar, “Suicide in the senior population is of particular concern because of their susceptibility to possible feelings of isolation, health limitations, or financial concerns that can all contribute to a sense of hopelessness. Being aware of the signs of depression or possible suicidal indicators can help.” This event is free and open to all, including a light dinner. Those interested in attending should RSVP by September 6 to Deborah C. Lauther, 315.261.5413 or [email protected].
