Social Security and How it “Benefits” You – Today and Tomorrow! will be held January 26th from 3-5 pm in the Town Offices Community Room, 18 Elm Street, Potsdam. The speaker is Diane Wilcox, director, Social Security Administration in Ogdensburg, NY. (Please park in the rear of the building and enter through the back door.) Social Security is under scrutiny with new rules being implemented for 2017 and substantial changes being discussed for the future. How these will impact benefits is important to contemplate. Understanding the issues and discussions ongoing at the federal level has now become important to any person paying into or drawing from Social Security This is the first of several workshops planned for 2017. The St. Lawrence County Chapter (SLCC) #2831 is a community of advocacy and volunteers whose purpose is to 1) promote at the local level the priorities, programs and policies specific for the benefit of our seniors, 2) maximize member engagement in a broad menu of services, information and educational activities, 3) demonstrate the contributions and potential of people who are 50+ to encourage their full participation in contemporary life, 4) create fundraising opportunities to achieve self-sufficiency, and 5) stimulate public interest in a variety of issues.
